About this episode

Today in the third episode of the Archive Tapes we’re going to explore what happened to the Technical University of Berlin's Electronic Studio after the grand commission for the 1970 World Exhibition in Osaka came to an end. Without major new projects, the studio’s working group began to dissolve, navigating years of personal tensions, key departures, and institutional uncertainty. From Boris Blacher’s exit to Fritz Winckel’s retirement, that left the entire department's survival hanging in the balance. Along the way, we’ll listen to Rüdiger Rüfer’s piece Signet, created as an acoustic pictogram for the World Chemical Fibers Congress and some of the 3 minute pieces composed for the special class of Herbert Brün. Enjoy the show!
