SoundUP presents: listen to the trees. SoundUP returns to the Binckhorst for this streaming programme, this time listening through sensitive microphones attached to two trees. They work a little like stethoscopes, amplifying small vibrations occuring inside the wood of the tree. So what might we hear? Wind in the leaves, perhaps some insects or the flowing sap of the trees. We'll probably hear some birds as well. The roots of trees spread metres into the ground, so they can pick up vibrations, perhaps coming from a long way away. But we don't know - listening like this always has something mysterious, particularly in the nighttime when we can only imagine what is going on around the trees.
