About this episode
This first episode features the voices of Lina Lee, Zoey Kapsyli, Marco Cordioli, and Diego Lacopini. Four musicians based in the Netherlands who created a series of compositions reflecting on their own condition as international students and their relation to the cities they now inhabit. In this exercise, the situated aspect of sound is blurred by listening through memories and simultaneously to different spaces and temporalities. The here and now then becomes a metaphor that is expressed in a collection of soundscape compositions that invite the listener to discover the stories these artists want to tell. To conclude the show, I will also present my composition Impossible Places, which is a collage of miniatures in which I explore a sort of microscopic listening as a search for unlocatable or imagined geographies that focus on the nuances of specific acoustic situations to rediscover their sonic cosmology. All the miniatures were composed using field recordings made in Rotterdam over the last few years, documenting acoustic expressions of the non-human.
