About this episode
Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1989), directed by Shin’ya Tsukamoto, is a landmark of Japanese experimental cinema and industrial cyberpunk. Shot in black and white, it combines frenetic editing, stop-motion animation, body horror and an aesthetic of visual and mechanical interference. Its soundtrack, composed by Chū Ishikawa, brings together metallic percussion, industrial rhythms, distortion and abrasive electronic textures. An extreme audiovisual experience in which noise, bodily transformation and machinery construct a universe of acoustic violence and technological mutation.
